Girl Scouts and Scary Story/Poem/Free Write

Filed under: My Family, My Writngs, School — audlife @ 11:30 pm

I really don’t understand why girlsjoin girl scouts. You do stuff that teaches you stuff, and you get badges. Thats it! BORING! (no offence to girl scouts) I probably shouldn’t be talking about girl scouts like this. I mean, my sister is a girl scout and my mom is a leader. But really, I don’t see any fun so far. Oh well.

Since I have been reading so much Egar Allen Poe in school, I decided to try to write a creepy poem myself. It probably isn’t very good, but oh well.

I walk through the bustling streets of a big city. I see the bright lights of the tall buildings that meet the starry sky. I walk through the crowds of laughing people, and smile.
But as I walk, the crowds thin, and the lights dim. Soon, I can only see some old buildings with cold, broken empty windows. I feel my hands freeze over. I feel a shudder creep up my spine. I light suddenly lights up and I see in front of me my shadow falling across the ground.
My eyes slowly, glide to one side, soon, my head follows. then my waist. I whirl around to see what may lie behind me.
Two bright lights shine in my eyes, they blind me. I hear a growling, like a giant beast. I turn and run. The growl turns to a roar of an engine. I cannot look back.
The nook ahead, it stopped everything, the one crack in the sidewalk.
I fall. The ground speeds up to meet me so fast I barley register. I lift my head, my hands reach up to my face. I feel the warm, sticky blood all over my hands. I hear a door slam. I look to see a tall, frowning man illuminated by the the two bright lights. His face is contorted with menace. Dark, greasy hair nearly covers his eyes which glow with a fiery passion for death.
I look at him with horror as he lifts his gun, I look into the eyes and see a slight familiarity, but before I can tell who he is, I hear the bang of the gun, and I am gone.
I am soaked with sweat. My sheets are twisted, and I am in tears. I look up at the picture of him on my room wall, and scream.

Well then, hope you enjoyed it.

Buh Bye!

George Washington and the Revolution

Filed under: School — audlife @ 6:02 pm

Well, schoolwise I am studying the Revolution. At Peninsula, the academic stucture is very different then a public school structure.

Take homework for example. At public schools They give kids so much homework that they don’t have time to be a kid. My dance teacher Judith, told our class about a child in one of the younger classes who said: “We get so much homework that there is no time to learn.”

I agree with this child. But at Peninsula, we dont get much homework until 5th grade. Then, it starts to build. I am in 8th grade, and I have had plenty of time to learn. I have really good socal skills. Now, I get a little less homework then public high school. I know for sure that I will be ready next year, and who better to ask then me!

For all you people who think I won’t succeed in High school, let me prove you wrong.  Next year I will be in Advanced English. I will have already taken algebra.

Peninsula has taught me to be a great person, to see everyone equilly, and to WANT to learn.

See Ya!

PS. oh yeah. I was going to post an essay about a certain part of  The Crucible.

Follow Abigail the Leader

In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, the character of Abigail leads at least four other girls into a fake bewitchment. The girls follow Abigail’s lead because she is the leader, and they are afraid and in awe of her, and they hope she can protect them.
Even before the story started, the girls seemed to already have seen Abigail as their leader, they show that in the first scene. For instance, Mary Warren addresses Abigail on p.17, “What’ll we do? The village is out! I just come from the farm; the whole countrys’ talkin’ witchcraft! They’ll be callen’ us witches Abby!” She addresses Abby though Mercy is also in the room. After she states that, Mercy accuses her of planning to tell the village about what they did, as if telling on her to Abby. “She means to tell, I know it.” (p.17) Mary then addresses Abby again, as if asking her to find a solution. “Abby, We’ve got to tell!” (p.18) The girls follow her lead because she is the leader.
Abigail is probably the leader because she has an interesting past that the girls are afraid and in awe of. She watched her parents die a bloody death. “I saw the Indians smash my dear parents’ heads on the pillow next to mine, and I have seen some reddish work done at night.” (Abigail: p.19) She also had an affair with John Proctor. “God help me, I lusted, and there is a promise in such sweat.” (John Proctor: p.102) So Abigail has done and seen these things, what would she do to those who crossed her. That is what the girls are afraid of.
The girls believed in Abigail as their leader and admire her, so they hope she will keep them out of trouble. They were quite afraid that they would be punished or hanged. “Witchery’s a hangin’ error.” (Mary Warren: p.18) “Oh, we’ll be whipped!” (Abigail: p.18)
The girls follow Abigail’s lead because simply, she is the leader. She is the leader because of how much she has seen and done. They trust her to keep them safe from punishment or death.
