Many Opinions

Filed under: Opinions — audlife @ 9:00 am

With the election coming up, it’s interesting the kinds of things that are talked about. Who is the better candidate? Who will make a good president? Vice President? What bills should be passed/killed?

It’s amazing how much stress is on about this stuff. Probably because we have the right to vote.

Or… most of YOU have the right to vote.

Psh.

Well I guess it makes sense that I can’t vote, most people my age are shallow, they would do what their friends or family tells them.

I know several people who understand the importance of voting. It’s sad that the young with a voice cannot be heard by it’s country.

It’s crazy though, 18 for me is just around the corner, I am sixteen now, about to get my drivers license, and eighteen is in sight. College is what high school looks like to a sixth grader, it’s crazy. My life has always been sort of mapped out for me what with school, where I live, what I do.

But college, that’s like, opening a whole new amount of possibilities.

Most of the time I stray away from that subject. College scares me a little, all the work, testing. SATs are next year, and I hate testing.

But anyway back to politics. It’s amazing how there is so much fuss over all this, but also it’s great how we get a voice (most of you get a voice). We, the people of the United States. Or I guess You the people.

You. Adults of the time, Take some responsibility here. Do you know how many times I have heard this sentence: “You’re the new generation, you have to fix things.”

I have heard that way to many times. YOU THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, ARE CHOOSING THE NEXT PRESIDENT, YOU ARE PASSING AND KILLING LAWS, YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

It’s crazy how so many people think that making a difference is only for young people. We can try to make a difference, but honestly, I think the the older generation should too. We follow example, and if the older generation is slacking off on the world, I don’t see why the younger generation will do anything differently. It’s OUR world, and I believe that we need to pull together on it, young and old, smart and dumb, strong and weak, men and women. All the ethical races, work together, we are all human and we share something, we share the privilege of living on earth and together. We also share the responsibility of keeping the peace and keeping the earth clean.

A quotation from my summer assignment

Filed under: HMBYC, Opinions, Quotes and Lyrics, School, Vacation! — audlife @ 9:18 pm

My summer so far has been all work. I work at Zero Meridian as usual, I worked at a youth sailing camp at the yacht club. I worked as a camp counselor at camp winnarainbow.

Also I have summer assignments. Mostly they are pretty boring. However, I have to write 10 quotations from the book “Black Boy” by Richard Wright. I really like it. Here is one quotation that has an issue that has effected me personally. I also included my response.

“I know that not race alone, not color alone, but the daily values that give meaning to life stood between me and those white girls with whom I worked. Their constant outward-looking, their mania for radios, cars, and a thousand other trinkets made them dream and fix their eyes upon the trash of life, made it impossible for them to learn a language which could have taught them to speak of what was in their or others’ hearts. The words of their souls were the syllables of popular songs.” (page 273 full version)

In the minds of some, there is not much more to life than the man made things that commercials and T.V.s sell. Their fixation of the media and consumer products drive their whole personality. Others do not forget that life brings them so much more. In this quotation, Richard describes the feeling of being in the presence of the former, while he, the latter finds himself lost to the conversation. When someone who is in touch with their heart, mind, and senses is in the presence of someone driven by urban life, it is if the two speak different languages, even as both speak with one vocabulary.

Richard feels this with the white girls because they have lived with hopes and dreams in urban life, and none having to do with intimacy, personal morals, or environment. Richard speaks of how he is surrounded by those who speak the same way as him, but the meaning behind their words mean nothing to him.

My point in this quotation is that I have experienced this firsthand, being in the company of those who can go no deeper than “the syllables of popular songs.” I can’t talk to them. We can communicate, but we are unable to truly talk to one and other.

Bread and Cheese?

Filed under: Opinions, Quotes and Lyrics — audlife @ 1:21 pm

“Bread and Cheese are like, the fruit of life!”

Kathryn said this. It’s an interesting idea. Every story with traveling involved, the traveler brings bread and cheese to eat.

Well I guess its pretty good. You got your starch and grains, you got your calcium, you got your protein you got a filling meal. Not bad. I wouldn’t bring just bread and cheese though. It doesn’t keep well.

Beauty

Filed under: Opinions, Uncategorized — audlife @ 11:27 am

What is beauty? Beauty could be a name for something that gives a person a profound feeling. It could be a name, like in Beauty and the Beast! What is beauty anyways? I find it interesting that our society is so focused on beauty. There is also a mutual decision over the years about what beauty looks like.

According to society, beauty is…

  • Skinny
  • Fit
  • Stylish
  • Nicely formed face
  • No acne (clear skin)
  • Medium Height
  • Straight teeth
  • White teeth
  • Straight Hair
  • Full lips
  • Long lashes
  • Pierced Ears
  • Big Breasts
  •  Big “cucumbers”
  • Long Legs
  • Straightened toes
  • Pleasent voice

Now here’s the thing I don’t get… This is a huge list. There are not many people in this world who are and have most of the things on this list. So if this was beauty, there woulod be no beauty right?

Do You Respect?

Filed under: Opinions — audlife @ 11:12 pm

I believe that people should treat each other with respect and love no matter who they are. I think that people should be accepting of each other and never ever make comments that hurt others. Do You Agree?  If the answer is yes, please write it down now…  Now if you answered yes, then you must be a good enough person to respect other people’s decisions in life, and  accept whoever they really are. But with those questions, i would imagine that most people would say yes to all.But with all the homophobia in this nation, I sometimes doubt that. So many people don’t let people “dig their own graves” into hell if they are gay, but want to help them become “pure, good and natural”.I myself, am a strait ally (A strait person who supports gay rights), and I feel that it’s THEIR bussiness if they want to be gay, lesbeian, bi, or trans. I think it’s ok if someone thinks that being anything but strait is unnatural, but I also believe that they shouldn’t try to change other people’s opinions.I think that those in favor of gay rights should be allowed to protest for their rights, but shouldn’t tell all the homophobs  what to believe, because no one will win. I think that repect should be there, and if either side wants to learn about the other, great!I personally want everyone to have the right to live without fear or pain from being themself. If you are homophobic (meaning you are not repectful of gays lesbians, trans people or bi people) and you answered the first question yes, I think you need to do some thinking time. Talk to an “unnatural” person and ASK some questions, instead of TELLING them things. Just try that with an open mind.

10 Top Tips for Being a Good Customer

Filed under: Opinions — audlife @ 7:49 pm

1. Always be courteous and nice to the clerk. Don’t start yelling about how your angry about something in the store. Just tell them what’s wrong, and they will be happy to help you.

2. NEVER EVER EVER lie to a clerk. They can spot it easily, and it isn’t pleasant to deal with. Just tell them that your kid is 6 not 5, and just tell them you don’t want to spend the money for the day pass!

3. When it comes to tips, the clerks love em. Putting them into the tip jar is the best way to give tips. If there is no tip jar, ask if they have one, most likely they will just say they can take it and keep the tip. Don’t say keep the change, because it’’s just plain laziness. Just take the change they give you and put it into the tip jar.

4. Don’t start rambling about your personal life, they don’t wanna hear it. They don’t want to know about how your child has been whining all through the movie about ice cream, or that your mom is visiting so you need a senior pass, just ask for what you want, then buy it!

5. Ok, sneaking away from the cash register is stupid. If you don’t like a price, just say “not today”, sneaking away isn’t gonna be very cool, because they know your just to chicken to tell them no!

6. Unless you know they are the owner of wherever you are, don’t tell them how much you love the place, how you think they did a great job with the new remodeling. They didn’t remodel it, they just work there, they will pretend to care, but they don’t.

7. You don’t need to apologize for giving them a 20 bill if the product was 1.25, they don’t mind giving change, its actually very easy and fun.

8. If you owe them like, 2.50, and you give them a 10, don’t give them the 50 cents, its not really helpful, it just makes them sit and wait for you while you search your wallet for your change. Just take the change they give you.

9. If you want to complain about the prices, ask for the manager, they just work there, they didn’t pick the prices.

10. The clerks are there to help you, and to give you the stuff you want, treat them with respect, and you will be much appreciated. If you want to help them, let them help you.

Yeah, I’m not saying i am really mad when people do this stuff, its just cool for me if people do these things. So if you feel like it, try it out.

Late at night in Jacksonville, FL.

Filed under: Opinions, Vacation! — audlife @ 8:56 pm

Well, im sitting at the dining room table of my aunt and uncle’s house. I haven’t written in a while, so…

Hi.

Yeah.

Well, I don’t have much planned, it’s been a long time since I have written with nothing planned. That might be why my blog has gotten so boring. I haven’t written many free writes either. Planning everything out is not always best I guess. I guess that sometimes it’s a good thing NOT to plan something, anywhere in life. You can plan to take your date out to Sushi, then you plan out exactly what root to take and reserve seats, then you pick them up and the two of you go, and it turns out that they HATE bumpy roads, and the root you chose is bumpy, and then you find out that they are allergic to seafood.

So, the worst date of your life, wouldn’t it have been better to just choose a random root and be like, “What you hungry for?”

Whats funny about that example is I love bumpy roads and I love Sushi, haha.

I wonder what would happen if the government didn’t plan every move they were gonna make against Iraq. Maybe they would catch more mistakes. Maybe they would think, hey, not everyone in Iraq hated the US.

Although by now, they probably all do.

Heck, sometimes even I hate our country.

I hate our country because we are some of the biggest polluters and consumers in the world, and we have a crappy government.

But then I think about how free we really are here, how we have the Bill of Rights, and how we can go from homeless in San Francisco to filthy rich in Beverly Hills. This is when I love my country.

Me and my country, we kinda have a love/hate relationship.

Whats really funny is how I have been working on this post for like, 20 minutes and its not even going to be that big.

Well, to all my readers I love you!

Except you.

Life.

Filed under: Opinions, Quotes and Lyrics — audlife @ 1:47 pm

Is life good? Or is it bad? I mean, sometimes people say stuff like, “Life is good!” it even says that on a shirt with a dog or wahtever. But sometimes, people are life, “Life sucks.” But im guessing it’s in a general way, but if it’s a private way, why do people stress?
Our family has this quote from a comercial we keep saying, “It sucks to be Frodo.” Well, obviously, no ones life can be worse then Frodo’s. Then, look at like Harry Potter. I was watching a spoof video on YouTube, one of the “Potter Puppet Pals”. Harry Potter Puppet Quotes, “My life stinks, my parents are dead, I can’t hold down a girlfriend, and Im surrounded by goblins and gouls and (beep) I mean what the (beep)!”
So obviously, somepeople have better lifes then others. ; )

Singing

Filed under: Opinions — audlife @ 5:03 pm

If I was right next to you right now, and I said, “ok sing a song! Right Now!!!” what would you do? I’m guessing you would probably say, “What? No!”
I’ve been noticing how people are so self consus about their voices until people have said quite a few times how good it is. They want to sing. But they are afraid. And afraid of what? That people will laugh, that people will say how bad they are. I mean, if you sing in front of you best friend, i really don’t think they will tell you that you are a horrible singer(unless your friend sucks).
And yet they are still afraid.
