A quotation from my summer assignment

Filed under: HMBYC, Opinions, Quotes and Lyrics, School, Vacation! — audlife @ 9:18 pm

My summer so far has been all work. I work at Zero Meridian as usual, I worked at a youth sailing camp at the yacht club. I worked as a camp counselor at camp winnarainbow.

Also I have summer assignments. Mostly they are pretty boring. However, I have to write 10 quotations from the book “Black Boy” by Richard Wright. I really like it. Here is one quotation that has an issue that has effected me personally. I also included my response.

“I know that not race alone, not color alone, but the daily values that give meaning to life stood between me and those white girls with whom I worked. Their constant outward-looking, their mania for radios, cars, and a thousand other trinkets made them dream and fix their eyes upon the trash of life, made it impossible for them to learn a language which could have taught them to speak of what was in their or others’ hearts. The words of their souls were the syllables of popular songs.” (page 273 full version)

In the minds of some, there is not much more to life than the man made things that commercials and T.V.s sell. Their fixation of the media and consumer products drive their whole personality. Others do not forget that life brings them so much more. In this quotation, Richard describes the feeling of being in the presence of the former, while he, the latter finds himself lost to the conversation. When someone who is in touch with their heart, mind, and senses is in the presence of someone driven by urban life, it is if the two speak different languages, even as both speak with one vocabulary.

Richard feels this with the white girls because they have lived with hopes and dreams in urban life, and none having to do with intimacy, personal morals, or environment. Richard speaks of how he is surrounded by those who speak the same way as him, but the meaning behind their words mean nothing to him.

My point in this quotation is that I have experienced this firsthand, being in the company of those who can go no deeper than “the syllables of popular songs.” I can’t talk to them. We can communicate, but we are unable to truly talk to one and other.

High School— The prime suffering years

Filed under: Quotes and Lyrics, School — audlife @ 2:34 pm

Wow, it’s been a while. I have been pretty busy. Have you ever been so busy that you have nothing to talk about? That’s kinda what’s up with me. I have been doing well in school. I can’t believe break is almost over, it seems like it just started. But life must go on as always, and as time moves forward I will soon be on another vacation, but in the meantime I must go back to my laborious torture zone called school.  When you think about it, a lot of say that high school is the worst time of their life. Well, I think I know why. When you are in Elementary School and Middle School, you are a kid, so you have some liberty; But when you get into high school, they have decided to make sure you have a miserable time. Your treated like a criminal, you have no time for fun, all you do is take classes and do homework, and it’s not even stuff you want to study!!!!!It makes me think, “Man, I just want to go to college, and study what I want.I do think of a wonderful and true quote however every once in a while, from Little Miss Sunshine. It is said by the suicidal uncle to the teenage boy. He says, “High school years are you prime suffering years! Why would you want to miss call that suffering!”It was kinda like that, but I think it’s really cool. I guess that suffering in high school helps to make you a stronger person overall.

School

Filed under: School — audlife @ 1:30 am

Well school has started. I have 6 periods a day, I have a locker, I have REAL P.E. I am in an enviornment where everyone is at least 13.

Wow. Well its fun.

Here are my classes:

1. Spanish, with Mr. Fernandez. Very easy to do, he teaches the class better then any Spanish teacher I ever had.

2. Sculpture, with Mr. Riodan. Intresting. He knows his stuff. He’s cool.

3. P.E., with Ms. Steech. My friend doesn’t like her, I on the other hand think she is awesome. She is a little strict, but she reminds me of my 8th grade teacher a little, who was beyond strict (though I loved my 8th teacher, she was the best).

4. Algebra 1, with Ms. Defosses. Shes cool, sometimes I cant really hear her or she forgets to give instructions. She makes good jokes.

5. Advanced English, with Ms. Lynes. Shes really nice, very creative. I like the class because nobody screws around, everyone pays attention, the only thing is she giveds us A LOT of work.

6. Social Studies, with Mr. Olsen. He and Ms. Steech are tied for fav teachers. They are really wonderful. Mr. Olsen is very creative, very relaxed, and he knows how to act around teenagers.

Part 2

Filed under: My Writngs, School — audlife @ 8:35 pm

Here is Part two.

Back in that time, the underworld was nothing but a huge cave deep in the center of the earth. Aria hated it immediately. Although it was a lot like the small cave on Mount Everest, she still hated it because Tarion was living in it. She was furious at him for killing her parents. As she thought about them, silent tears slipped down her face. Tarion didn’t seem to notice, he was just so happy that he had Aria all to himself.

Tarion started to lead Aria down the hall to her room. Aria was thinking of revenge plans, but then Aria thought about what her father would say about her thinking of revenge and she quickly thought of something she could do to get out of this. She wished to avenge her parents by killing Tarion, and because she was a half Goddess, she knew what happened when you died back then. You would go to this empty world where you just float through the darkness.

Aria started weeping again at the thought of her parents floating around in the darkness with no one there to love them. Then she thought of her father being a God, and remember that he would go back to where he started, up where the Goddess Audrey was. She remember that since she was half God, she would be going up to where the Goddess Audrey was too, and never see here mother again.

Suddenly Tarion stopped. “Well, this is it. Your room.”, said Tarion. She went in and he shut the door for her. She looked around, everything was stone. The wardrobe, the bed, the chair, was stone. Even the bedcovers were stone. “How does Tarion sleep?”, she thought to herself. She thought, “What am I doing here in this room? Why don’t I just go out and get him?”

The it hit her, and idea that was perfect for him. It wasn’t death, it wasn’t even pain. She was thinking about he villagers and what they though happened to people who were bad. They would to go a place called “hell,” she thought it was called.

Suddenly she burst out of her room and ran toward the dining room. Tarion was already sitting at the table. “Ah, you’re here”, said Tarion. “I didn’t know that I was supposed to be here”, said Aria. “Maybe you didn’t hear me say so, you seemed so intent on one thought.”, said Tarion.

Aria did phase one of here plan. She grabbed a steak knife and stabbed herself through the chest. She found herself floating up, she saw the village, Goren. She saw the little cave and her parents dead bodies, but yet she was still going up. She found the part where you couldn’t breath, but still she could breath. She saw a cloud up ahead, and seemed to be heading straight for it.

Suddenly she was on top, and gorgeous buildings were around here. They were all made of the cloud, but still gorgeous. It was so beautiful, I cannot explain how beautiful she saw it as. She quickly ran to my temple, and burst into it.

I saw her fling herself in. Her face was red, and she was breathing quickly. “Goddess Audrey,” she said, very politely although at the same time out of breath. “Tarion has killed both my parents, and… father!” There he was, her father Beach, standing next to me. She ran to give her father a big hug. She quickly curtsied to me and said, “Goddess Audrey, I have had to go and live with Tarion, the evil God of the underworld. He is terribly evil. He killed my parents, and I’m sure that he has done more (for being known as the evil God of the underworld).

“Of course,” I said, “he has helped witches, he had come up here and stolen children for the witches, he as put curses on mortals, and killed them when they have just appeared. He is terribly evil.” I replied. “This is why I think that he should go to the very place that mortals believe that evil ones go to.” she said. “I believe” I said, thinking it over. “That that would be the right thing to do, but the only way my powers would work is if he were up here.”

“Oh, he’ll be up here.”, Aria said. I wondered what she meant. “What makes you so sure?”, I asked her. “Well, he went all the way up Mount Everest to kill both my parents so that he could steal me, so why doesn’t he just come up here to steal me again?” said Aria. “You have a point there.”, I said. “And he is so stupid that he is probably going to come bursting in here and say ’surrender’, and he will only realize his mistake when it is too late.”

Suddenly, the doors to the temple burst open, and Tarion came in yelling “Surrender Aria.” He stopped, clapped his hands to his mouth, looked up at me, and started to run for the door. Quickly I muttered a spell which froze him in his tracks. “ How about this, I will create one little box that will be just like what the mortals call “hell.”” I created the box right next to my chair, and with another spell, moved him into the box and sealed it. I unfroze him and he immediately jumped a foot in the air.

“I must congratulate you Aria, for being so brave in that time of hardship,” I said. Aria looked up at me and told me what she wished for me to do. “I wish that the mortals could have children as well as Gods, and that there was a better way for them to go when they died”, said Aria. “Very well,” I said, “I will do the same thing for babies as I did for Osana. As for dieing, I shall send all the mortals, depending on their personality, into a place where they will see their loved ones. It will be beautiful, wonderful, and never terrifying.”

Aria asked, “May I go back on earth then for the rest of my life?” “I’m sorry,” I said, “but your wish has been wasted. You cannot go back for you have stabbed yourself down there. Unless you wish to trade your last wish for this one, you will have to stay here. Either way I will send Osana up here.” “Thank you so much! I’m glad mother will be up here with me, and I’m not going to trade my wish, for I am helping millions and millions of mortals rather than myself.”, said Aria. “To make things easier, I will make all the mortals forget about ever having adults just appear, I will make them think that it has been going on like this forever.”, I said. Aria said “Thank you.”

And that is the my story. Now you know where you go when you die, and why you are born in the first place. No God is higher or better than you are. Mortals and Gods are the same, some are bad, some are good, yet we are all family. Everyone is at least 50 times removed from you. So really, we are all family, Gods and Goddesses, mortals, plants, animals, everyone is family.

Remember, I wrote this in 6th Grade.

Story

Filed under: My Writngs, School — audlife @ 10:00 pm

This is a story I wrote for an assignment in 6th Grade. I have better writing talents now, but this is ok still. The assignment was to write a myth where you are the God or Goddess. So I will put it in parts. This is the first part:

ONCE, long ago, there was a village, this village was in the mountains with Mount Everest, right in the middle of it. The village was called Goren, and living in Goren there was a young woman named Osana. She lived on a small farm right next to the mountain.

Now you see, at this time, a woman would just wish for a child and an adult would just appear out of thin air. Osana now, had read in the Monae (Bible) that Goddesses had babies like our style. Osana wanted to raise a child herself, so she went to the Audric temple to ask for a baby.

I saw how much she wanted a baby, and I pitied her terribly. I thought of the consequences, but at the same time, I was thinking “Why not? It’s just one person.” I granted her the wish. I looked through all my Gods and decided on Beach. Beach was the God of the coast, the lakes, the rivers, and the sea. I decided that he would be the perfect match for Osana.

I sent him down to earth as a student in Osana’s art class. Beach proved to be the perfect match for Osana. They quickly fell in love and soon Osana was granted a baby, but this was when the terrors really started. You see, it wasn’t just Gods that had babies, it was also those that did witchcraft and stole babies from the Gods and Goddesses. All the villagers, seeing that she had a baby, decided that she must have stolen it from God, and that she was a witch and Beach must be too. Shrieking with rage at even thinking of her stealing a baby from the Gods, they ran after her to kill her, take the baby, and give it the best care they could.

Although the villagers meant well, they did not know that I had granted her that baby. Osana ran up Mount Everest as quickly as she could, higher and higher and higher. None of the villagers followed. They knew that she was sure to die up on Mount Everest, but they all wept at the thought that a Gods child had suddenly gone.

Osana found a small cave high up in the mountain, built a fire, and found some brush for her and the baby’s bed. Beach, as a God, could easily move straight up the mountain as quickly as he wished, so he got there quickly. He told Osana that he was not an ordinary man, but a God, sent down to her by the Goddess Audrey. Osana accepted the news, though she wished he had told her before hand.

They lived up in the mountains for 17 happy years. Their new daughter, they found, was not a full God, just a half God, which meant that she was mortal. It also meant that she had the most gorgeous looks ever. Her name was Aria.

On her 17th year she was discovered by Tarion, the evil God of the earth. Tarion fell in love with Aria and decided to take her into the underworld.

Tarion came up to the mountain where Osana, Beach, and Aria were living. He came up and talked to Osana and Beach about him taking Aria down to the underworld to live. Osana didn’t like the idea very much, but she didn’t say anything because Tarion had much more power than she did. Beach, on the other hand, did not think, and told him that he would never allow his daughter to live with him. Tarion was furious, and in a quick flash, he had killed both Osana and Beach. Beach had not had enough time to utter a spell.

Aria had been watching all this from the mouth of the cave and was horrified to see her mother and father hit the ground at her feet. Tarion took advantage of Aria’s shock to grab her with a spell and take her into the underworld.
